You may notice that you:
Wake up with a very dry mouth
Keep water beside the bed
Feel unusually thirsty during the night
Drink more than usual before going back to sleep
Persistent excessive thirst is one of the better-known symptoms associated with diabetes.
3. Night Sweats
Night sweats can have many causes, including warm rooms, infections, menopause, medications, anxiety, and other medical conditions.
In people taking insulin or certain diabetes medications, sweating during sleep can sometimes occur when blood sugar drops too low.
Possible signs of nighttime low blood sugar may include:
Sweating
Shaking
Restless sleep
Nightmares
Waking with a headache
This is especially relevant for people who already have diabetes and use glucose-lowering medication.
4. Restless or Poor-Quality Sleep
Blood sugar problems can sometimes interfere with sleep.
